Our Projects
Local partnerships. Shared progress.
Meet the people and projects putting open monitoring, practical guidance, and airborne protection into use.

Our initial pilot partnerships
Local people. Questions that matter.
Our first four partnerships connect monitoring with schools, research, citizen science, and community advocacy.
Africa Clean Air Network
The Sensor Bank Scheme places calibrated monitors into the hands of researchers, institutions, and community groups across Africa. OAF’s initial contribution supports access to monitoring equipment where it is needed.
Explore projectUrbanBetter, African Hubs
UrbanBetter empowers communities across African cities to improve air quality through citizen science and active mobility. Portable monitors support its youth-led work across its African hubs.
Explore projectMAJI, Nigeria
The Media Awareness and Justice Initiative aims to expand its DATACAB air monitoring portal and monitoring network to secondary schools and technical institutions in Rivers State, Nigeria.
Explore projectThe Demography Project, Kenya
This youth-led, community-based nonprofit uses air quality monitoring to support citizen science and action on local pollution. The initial OAF partnership supports a school-based monitoring network in Kenya.
Explore projectResearch and shared tools
Building knowledge others can use.
Aerosol Protection and Detection for Biosecurity
Developing improvised building protections against outdoor aerosols and aerosol sensors for environment-to-human exposure scenarios.
Explore the projectOne Air Toolkit
An indoor–outdoor extension to the existing air quality monitoring toolkit, connecting measurements with practical action.
Explore the projectIndoor Air Quality Map
Explore contributed indoor air quality measurements. Use the map alongside information about the setting and how measurements were collected.

Proposed collaboration · Seeking support
Help shape Open Healthy Spaces.
A proposed community-led pilot to map indoor air quality and help people identify opportunities for healthier public spaces.
A proposed pilot would explore community measurements and an open map of indoor air quality. Scope and evaluation would be developed with partners.

Where our approach began
Experience we can build on.
Before OAF, AirGradient worked with schools, families, and community groups to make local air quality visible. Those partnerships continue to inform the foundation’s work.
